WINES BY THE GLASS

BUBBLES

PIERRE RICHARD CRÉMANT DU JURA ROSÉ $13/67
Pinot Noir/Chardonnay, Jura, FR, NV
Soft pink subterfuge. A gentle, inviting color masks big acid, as sour cherries mingle with rose petals and toasty almond brioche.

FAMILLE PEILLOT ‘MONTAGNIEU’ BRUT $13/67
Altesse/Mondeuse/Chardonnay, Bugey, FR, NV
Crispy but soft, like a fresh hotel room pillow. This region is known for off-dry sparkling red wines, but Peillot has gifted us an Alpine alternative to Champagne.

PATRICE COLIN ‘PERLES ROUGES’ $13/67
Gamay Noir, Coteaux du Vendômois, FR, NV
Fully red Méthode Ancestrale bubbly from the Loire that reads like herbaceous Gallic Lambrusco. An enlivining apéritif that jives especially well with charcuterie.

VINS BLANCS

JULIE ET TOBY BAINBRIDGE ‘LES JONGLEURS’ $18/88
Chenin Blanc, Anjou, FR, 2023
Tastes like wearing a fresh-pressed linen suit with flip flops. Lightweight and oh so easy, very put together but with a little dust on its toes. A reminder to not take things quite so seriously.

DOMAINE DE L’EPINAY ‘PRIMULA’ $13/67
Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadet, FR, 2023
A Chimera, seemingly multiple wines at once. The minerality of classic Muscadet, the green saltiness of Txakoli, a whisper of Chenin-like wooliness, yet also wholly itself. Just like the primroses on its label, a suggestion of brighter, longer days ahead.

CAMIN LARREDYA ‘LA PART DAVANT’ $16/84
Gros Manseng/Petit Manseng/Petit Courbu, Jurançon, FR, 2022
One of our favorite wines from a slept-on region at the foot of the Pyrénées, this elixir from the Sud-Ouest is dense with orchard fruit (crunchy apple, ripe pear, fuzzy quince) yet possesses explosive acidity. It tastes of warmth and energy, a solar flare in a glass.

VINS ON THE SKINS

L’ALEZAN ‘HO’OPONOPONO’ $18/94
Viognier/Roussanne/Marsanne, Ardèche, FR, 2022
Whole cluster maceration from a single vineyard, this is orange wine masquerading as a tepache and witbier shandy. Dry and structured, burnished copper in the glass.

LES BOIS PERDUS ‘ELLE DANSE’ $16/84
Grenache/Cinsault, Ardèche, FR, 2022
Biodynamic zero-zero rosé with some deep and haunted undertones…think Jennifer Connelly’s lipstick in Dark City. More Loire red than Provençal pink, with garrigue and sea salt on the finish

VINS ROUGES

LA GRANGE AUX BELLES ‘BRISE D’AUNIS’ $16/100
Pineau d‘Aunis, Anjou, FR, 2023
The Breeze of Aunis! Juice from young vines in a liter bottle, this is bright, fresh and laid back, with just a hint of the classic PdA white pepper spice on the finish. One of the friendliest wines on our list, meant to be chilled and chugged.

FAMILLE HUBERT ‘NATURE PEINTURE’ $13/65
Merlot, Côtes de Bourg, FR, 2023
We are drinking fuckin’ Merlot. Carbonic maritime Merlot from Bordeaux’s right bank,
right on the shore of the Gironde. Bruised purple, plush but not heavy, effortless but
completely compelling.

CALEB LEISURE ‘OBELUS’ $14/72
Grenache/Cinsault/Mourvèdre, Sierra Foothills, CA, 2021
A singular voice forging new paths, one man band Caleb Leisure coaxes Cali crunchiness out of classic Rhône varieties. This is vibrant, dynamic wine, a blend of whole cluster and macerated fruit cofermented in Georgian qvevri. If you’re looking for Chateaunoofy-du-Poopy, this ain’t it.

VINS DOUX

DOMAINE DE LA RENARDIÈRE MACVIN DU JURA $14
Chardonnay Frais & Marc, Jura, FR, NV
2 parts unfermented grape juice blended with 1 part brandy made from the same grapes, this golden liquid is both sweet and powerful thanks to the marriage of fresh fruit, grape must and Marc. Notes of pears and yellow plums with a baking spice backbone. Drink with cheese!

CAMIN LARREDYA ‘AU CAPCEU’ $14
Petit Manseng, Jurançon, Fr, 2021
Supercharged aromatics of kumquats, membrillo and cultured butter that carry through on the palate with a virtually neverending finish. The Southwestern king of late harvest wines.
